Catalogue
Enterprise dataset spec sheets by data type
This catalogue describes six enterprise data types as specifications: workplace chat, email, support tickets, source code, business documents, and CRM and process records. Each spec sheet states what one record holds, what drives size, which checks to run on a sample and what the data is good for. Use it to compare types before you write a request.

How to read a spec sheet
Every sheet follows the same order, so types can be compared line by line. Structure shows how the type uses the shared conversation schema and which fields are specific to it. Size drivers name what makes one delivery large and another small, because raw volume says little until filtering is done. Sample checks are the tests to run on a sample before you agree to the full set. Uses say where the type earns its place, and questions for the supplier are what to put in your first email.
Matching type to training goal
- Dialogue between people. Workplace chat for many short voices, email for longer, more formal exchanges with outside parties.
- Tasks with a result. Support tickets, where a case ends in a recorded outcome, and code, where an issue ends in a merged change and passing tests.
- Long reading and drafting. Business documents, best with versions or with inputs paired to the finished deliverable.
- Process and decision data. CRM and process records, where each deal or case carries its stages and its ending. These are specified per request because every system is configured differently.
What makes a delivery worth more
Four properties raise usefulness across all types. Depth of history, because years show how work changes. Linked sources from one organisation, because tasks cross systems. Recorded outcomes, because they turn records into checkable tasks. And clean rights with documentation, because data your counsel cannot clear never reaches a training run.
Formats
Conversational types ship as JSON Lines. For large deliveries, the same records can be written to Apache Parquet with an identical field layout. Metadata about the set itself belongs in the datasheet, and can also be expressed as Croissant or a Hugging Face dataset card if your tooling reads those.

Files that should travel with the data
- Data files
- In the agreed schema, with SHA-256 checksums listed in the datasheet.
- Datasheet
- Composition, provenance, processing, permitted use and AI Act inputs.
- De-identification report
- Policy version, methods, scan results, reviewed sample size and residual risk.
- Rights record
- Who holds the rights and the written basis on which the data is licensed.
- Code book
- Meaning of every category, status and outcome code that appears in labels.
- Sample
- A representative slice delivered first, so you can test before committing.
FAQ
Choosing a data type: questions
Which enterprise data type should a lab start with?
Start from the capability you are training. Support tickets suit task completion and evals because they carry outcomes. Chat and email suit dialogue and agents that work alongside people. Code with history suits coding agents. Documents suit long-context reading and drafting.
Can enterprise datasets be bought off the shelf?
Rarely in a useful form. Enterprise records belong to the organisations that produced them, so a dataset is assembled for a spec and licensed from them. That is why this catalogue lists specifications, not volumes.
What format are enterprise datasets delivered in?
Conversational sources as JSONL with one conversation per line in the published schema. Documents as Markdown with a JSONL index. Code as git bundles with JSONL for reviews and issues.
Why combine several data types from one organisation?
Because work crosses systems. A ticket leads to a chat thread, a code change and a release note. Linked records from one organisation let a model follow a task end to end, which single-source data cannot show.
How should a lab check a sample before licensing?
Load it with your own pipeline, run the checks listed on the relevant spec sheet, search for leaked identifiers, and compare the sample's composition with what the datasheet claims.
What does a datasheet add to a dataset?
A written account of composition, provenance, processing, de-identification and permitted use. It is what your legal, privacy and research teams rely on later, and it feeds AI Act documentation.
